Tragic Accident in Faridabad: 17-Year-Old Student Killed by Canter Truck | Gurgaon News

Gurgaon: A 17-year-old student died in when a canter truck hit his scooter at Palla in Faridabad on Sunday.
The canter truck driver has been arrested, cops said. The teenager, Deepender Vasisth from New Tilpat Colony, was a Class 12 student at DAV School in Faridabad.
Police said the accident occurred around 10.15am when Deepender was heading to a tuition class in Sector 37. The canter truck struck his scooter from behind, running him over.
“We were alerted by locals and arrived at the scene. Deepender suffered multiple injuries, and we rushed him to the Civil Hospital in Sector 10, where he was declared dead on arrival,” said SI (Palla) Mahender Singh.
Based on Deepender’s father’s complaint, a case was registered under BNS sections 106 (causing death due to negligence) and 281 (rash driving on a public way) against the canter truck driver, who had abandoned the vehicle at the scene and fled.
“The canter has been seized, and the driver, Bhagat Singh, has joined the investigation,” said Singh.
He added that the teenager’s body was handed over to his family on Sunday after an autopsy. In a separate incident, a 48-year-old painter, Vijay Kumar from Bas Lambi in Bilaspur died after he was fatally injured when his bike was hit by an unknown vehicle on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway near Hero Honda flyover. The accused driver is absconding, cops said. “The collision occurred around 3.30pm on Saturday, and Vijay succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at ESIC Hospital in Faridabad early on Sunday,” said an official.
Based on a complaint by Vijay’s daughter, Rinky Kumari, police registered a case under BNS sections 106 and 281. “It appears to be a hit-and-run case. We are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to identify the accused,” the official added.
